The Inevitable Change

Warmth engulfs me in this cold wind
As I hear my phone ring.
Two lit up faces look back
As I stare at them in awe
Oh how have we all changed
And are yet the same

Clouds of fond memories swamp me
As we giggle over silly anecdotes
and amusing throwbacks
Back when we were a pack.
Oh how have we all changed
And are yet the same

I am reminded of our late night talks,
our long beach walks
The way we spent hours just discussing dreams
and our eyes would gleam
Random conversations
No inhibitions
Oh how have we all changed
And are yet the same

Those unplanned trips,
and spontaneous theatre visits
Getting drenched in the rain
When life didn't seem so vain
Impulsively bunking classes
From giving atrocious relationship advice
To being a shoulder so wise
Oh how have we all changed
And are yet the same

Years have passed,
We have now grown up
Responsibilities haunt us more
than the ghosts of our past.
We have grown up at last
But as I sit and stare at
those two familiar faces on my screen arranged
I cannot help but wonder
Have we all really changed?

Droplets

As the droplets of rain
drizzle down his window frame
he begins to write
He fiddles, he halts
because all that he can inscribe
are the secrets of a name long forgotten,
because all that he can indite
is the days spent in her company,
the midnight rides,
the beach walks,
the long chats,
the hands held,
the stolen kisses
the caustic goodbye...
He puts the pen to rest
and stares through the window at the blurred lights
Wishing the rains
would smudge his memory too..

Home

I look at you with inquisitive eyes,
You look back and I am lost.
You take my hand and pull me to dance,
All of it feels like trance.
We sit in the midst of the crowd,
Oblivious to the noise around.
I look at you yet again and you look back,
This time it dawns upon me,
that home is not a place
It is a person and lost I am no more..
You are home!

Today I feel homesick as I put you down in words
I think we know why..
If only we had tried!

The Secret

Amidst a full moon night adorned with stars, sat a table, dimly lit by candles. The burning flames highlighting their faces. They were celebrating a year of marital bliss. He had her company and yet he could not capture her attention. For she was lost in introspection, gazing at the beautiful zodiac in the night sky, reflecting upon the memories she would forever treasure.

Same night, same time, three thousand miles away, he looked up at the sky to spot his moon and smiled. A warm blanket of memories enveloped him from the cold night, memories he would never forget.

Their secret remained safe with the moon.

Three people,
Three lives
Two connected by,
Marital ties
But only two connected
At heart
Happy married couple
Stamped by the world,
But only their souls know,
What their hearts refuse to show
Because out of three,
Two are married
But oh how then
Only one happy?
Bound by society,
The unmarried couple leads a secret life,
Because only two are
Connected at heart
And the rest are lies....

SEASONS

You walked in like the summer breeze,
warm and pleasant
taking over spring,
bliss was all you brought
captivated my thoughts,
I was unarmed and caught

Like winds of Autumn,
later, you left me high and dry
I fell to the ground,
like the leaves from a tree unwound

I tried to stick back together,
the pieces of my broken heart
but little did I know,
That winter wasn’t far..

Along came the frosty Winter,
Disguised as your absence
froze my soul,
No longer was I whole

Days passed by,
And I saw a ray of light
touching my cheek
pulling me right
to the blooming flowers and seed fairy showers

Gradually I feel like myself again,
Maybe this is life
Where season’s change...
